‘50 Irish Books’

Back to all news

UCD has launched the inaugural project of the digital platform for contemporary Irish writing titled ‘50 Irish Books’. This features a selection of 50 titles, one per author, published in the five year period 2009–2013, and makes available electronic links to reviews of the book in question, public interviews with the author, and other relevant resources.

Our aim is to highlight this variety of resources relating to contemporary Irish writing for the information and enjoyment of the reading public and to support courses on Irish literature taught internationally. Since a selection of publications can capture only some of the richness of contemporary Irish writing, we look forward to developing and amplifying 50 Irish Books through the book blogs function of this site and through user interaction at contact us. Bainigí sult as!

Launched in Autumn 2015, the Digital Platform for Contemporary Irish Writing is led by Professor Margaret Kelleher, Chair of Anglo–Irish Literature and Drama, University College Dublin, and funded by UCD’s seed funding and strategic initiative schemes. You can visit the website here.
