Green Curtain Theatre Productions is asking people to submit short plays or monologues for a chance to have them performed.
Chosen submissions will be rehearsed and read on stage in February and March as part of their ‘Shows from the Songs Night’ with a hope to develop successful plays into full performances later on.
What you need to do
1. Produce a screenplay or monologue inspired by a song ensuring the audience can recognise the connection. Green Curtain Theatre is particularly interested in plays based on Irish songs from any era (eg Who might Danny Boy be today? What’s the story behind the “Fairytale of New York”? What shenanigans did the Black Velvet Band get up to?)
2. Ensure the pieces take no longer than 15 minutes to perform (this is equivalent to reading the scripts for 10 minutes straight)
3. Submit your screenplay or monologue to anne@irishinlondontheatre.co.uk by 27 February 2017 with your full name, contact details and a short summary of what the piece is about.
The write–ups can include as many characters as you wish as long as it can be performed by a maximum of 4 actors.
