Back to all news

Ashford Place, a charity that supports disadvantaged and marginalised communities, had a great turnout at its first Cricklewood Irish event on Tuesday. The event held at the Clayton Crown celebrated the impact made by the Irish community in the wider NW2 area over the years.

Special guests included Ambassador Dan Mulhall who talked about the great contribution that Irish people in Cricklewood have made locally but also to Ireland. Bernard Canavan also attended, summarising the history of immigration of Irish communities to Cricklewood starting back in the early 1900s.

Ambassador Dan Mulhall said:

“The Irish in Cricklewood event was an opportune time to congratulate an Irish community that has had such a positive impact on the wider community here in NW2 over the years. As well as Cricklewood there are many many Irish communities around the country who benefit their wider communities and will continue to do so.”

Over 100 people attended the event including local older Irish residents, businessmen and women, parish priests, nuns (Sisters of Mercy and St Joseph’s of Peace) and clients of Ashford Place.
