Anti–social Personalities: Anti–social Organisations. What has been learned from ‘institutional abuse’?

Back to all news

Irish in Britain members icap (Immigrant Counselling and Psychotherapy), have partnered with IGA (Institution for Group Analysis) and the University of East London to hold a joint seminar entitled “Anti–social Personalities: Anti–social Organisations. What has been learned from ‘institutional abuse’?”. The event takes place on Saturday, 13 Feb at Voluntary Action Islington.

Over recent years, there have been more and more revelations as to the extent of abuse occurring within institutions– even those that might be seen as dedicated to care, such as schools, hospitals and care homes.

The hosts are interested in understanding more about the abuse that takes place in such institutional contexts. Can we understand more about how institutions allow such abusive individuals to operate, or perhaps they can even create an environment that encourages such abuse, or attracts those that abuse?

Tickets cost £32.84 and are available here

Speakers will include:

Dr Earl Hopper (Group Analyst and editor of Trauma and Organisations)

Dr Camillus Metcalfe (author of For God’s Sake: The Hidden Life of Irish Nuns)

Mary Higgins (CEO, Caranua– the Independent Irish State body for survivors of Institutional Abuse)

Dr Mary Lodato

Richard Morgan–Jones (Psychotherapist and organizational consultant, author of ‘The Body of The Organization and its Health)
