Birmingham Irish Association offers new service for community

Back to all news

Birmingham Irish Association are offering another support service, assisting the older Irish community in Birmingham with information gathering and making bookings to travel back to Ireland. There is a growing need for the older Irish community to have easy access and support when travelling back home.

Not everyone has access to the internet or indeed are computer literate, and not everyone has a friend or family member who can help, especially when people need to travel home at short notice, perhaps for a family funeral.
This is where Birmingham Irish Association can help. The service will only be available on Fridays from 11am–3pm. Prior appointments are advisable.
Melissa Roche, Project Officer for Culture, Sport and Heritage at Birmingham Irish Association commented “As well as celebrating Irish culture and keeping it alive in Birmingham, we also need to look at the older Irish community and help them to reconnect with their family, friends and celebrate their cultural roots back home.
