Clubs National Meeting held in Leeds

Back to all news

Irish in Britain held a national meeting on Saturday January 24. The meeting was an opportunity to review with the participants the overall findings of Irish in Britain’s in–depth survey into the opportunities and challenges facing Irish clubs. The survey has shown that there are many common issue the clubs are struggling to deal with and the meeting was an opportunity for the clubs to come together to work together on generating improvements.

The group examined current practices and looked at different ways to address issues like health and safety, employment law, human resources and various other aspects of the business.

As the majority of our clubs are run by volunteers it was evident that time was a major factor in managing the administration of the business, so we looked at various outside opportunities that may be able to assist in the process from funding streams to peer top peer support.

The group have agreed to meet again in three months but have also made a commitment to achieve certain objectives within that time scale.
Irish in Britain will now be working very closely with these groups to look at funding availability and external resources to see how the issues can be addressed.
