Dementia Week 2014

Back to all news

Dementia Week 2014 18 – 24 May

It is that time of year again where we can all gather round for a cup of tea with friends to chat, share stories and reminisce.

Dementia week is the national Dementia awareness week and it runs from 18 – 24 May.

Let’s try and get as many of our elders in to celebrate their lives and share their wise knowledge. There are so many different ways of bringing people together, you could do a local walk and talk, visit a museum, cook together, have an oral history session, do some gardening as a group, sing or dance, contact your local school and see if you can do a joint event with some young people, go for a picnic in the park– Weather permitting of course!

You can download our resource pack here

Whatever you decide to do make sure you make it a fun and lovely day. When chatting about memories please also create a space for people to raise any concerns they may have relating to their memories.

We will be sharing your stories via social media all week so tweet us @irishinbritain with the hastag #demfriend
