Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2020

Back to all news

Eating Disorders Awareness Week is an international awareness event, fighting the myths and misunderstandings that surround anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified).

This campaign aims to improve the public’s understanding of eating disorders—their causes, dangers, treatments, who they affect, and more. To find out more about this year’s campaign visit the Beat Eating Disorders website here

Getting help

Realising that you or someone you know might have an eating disorder can be frightening. But eating disorders, while serious, are treatable, and it is very possible to make a full and sustained recovery.

  • You can talk in confidence to an adviser from eating disorders charity Beat by calling their adult helpline on 0808 801 0677 or youth helpline on 0808 801 0711.
  • Contact MIND Anorexia and Bulimia Care (ABC) on 03000 11 12 13
  • If you are in Ireland, contact Body Whys on 1890 200 444 or email alex@bodywhys.ie
