Lewisham Irish Community Centre is raising money to turn unused garden space into a community allotment. They’ll use the food produced to support lunch groups for vulnerable and older adults. The money will also contribute towards a seating area that can be accessed by all – ideal for those summer al–fresco lunches.
What’s great is that if the centre can raise just £1125, Lewisham Council may fund the remaining 65% of the project!
So if you have some spare change, love the idea as much as we do, then pop over to their fund page and donate for this wonderful cause.
The centre works to reduce poverty, sickness and distress and social isolation. They aim to enhance community participation particularly among the elderly and disadvantaged. They offer facilities for the older isolated community to socialise, participate in healthy living activities and enjoy a free /low cost lunch together.
