Back to all news

18 teams took part in Rossendale’s second annual walking football tournamen organised by the Raft Foundation.

Three teams were crowned the winners, with the Irish Democratic League Club of Haslingden winning the Galaxy League trophy and teams Leabrook and Toffs tying for the Premier League title.

Mayor Marilyn Procter presented the winners with trophies, designed by Alexis Valentine of Haslingden business Walking on Glass. Money raised from entry fees was donated to the winners’ chosen charities, the Lancashire Air Ambulance, Cancer Research UK and the Mayor’s Charity fund.

Organiser Claire Louie said: “Even though the forecast was far from summery, the sun shone on a spectacular Saturday of sport! We all would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that entered this year, to the many spectators, and also the entire event team that worked tirelessly to make the day an incredible success.”
