Irish Heritage announces bursaries for 2020/21

Back to all news

Irish Heritage has announced it will award three bursaries and one special award in its 2020/21 season.

The bursaries will be:

  • A Music Bursary for Performance valued at £5,000;
  • A Music Bursary for Vocal Studies valued at £2,500;
  • A Music Bursary for Composition valued at £3,000;
  • A special Accompanist’s Award associated with the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival (value to be confirmed).

In addition, there will be guaranteed performance opportunities both with the Festival and Irish Heritage including a world premiere of the successful composition.

Information and application forms for the three bursaries and the award will be circulated in early September.

Irish Heritage would like to draw the attention of those interested in applying for the bursaries to a new requirement to take effect from this season.

There will be a pre-audition stage where applicants will be required to submit an MP3/video of them performing an audition piece.  These will be assessed and only those selected by the adjudicators will be invited to take part in the auditions in the Wigmore Hall on Tuesday 24 November subject, of course, to the current restrictions being removed by then.

If readers know of any first or second generation Irish music students that may be interested in the bursaries please advise them to alert their conservatoires or colleges to look out for the information from Irish Heritage in September.
