BIAIrish in Birmingham becomes Birmingham Irish Association

For almost 60 years Irish in Birmingham has been the leading charity in the city providing support and cultural services to the Irish community and beyond. During this time they have proudly served thousands of service users both first and subsequent generations. Building on the foundations set in place many years ago they have continued to develop an organisation that meets the needs of the community and is responsive to the ever changing climate that we work in. Their commitment to go that extra mile in order to achieve positive outcomes for their service users has kept the organisation at the heart of the community. Mindful of the need to enhance their services and to compliment a city as diverse as Birmingham, they are adopting a new name and brand which they believe positions the organisation at the forefront of support and care charities in Birmingham.

“Our work will still be primarily focused on working with older adults of Irish heritage whose need may be centred on Housing issues, Welfare Benefits, Health or maybe social isolation. However, our aim is also to embrace those members of the community whose needs are different. They may wish to pursue their family heritage, engage with a local GAA sports club or simply to find out more about Birmingham’s vibrant Irish community. Our bereavement service is available to everyone above the age of 18, not just those with Irish heritage.”

The newly named Birmingham Irish Association will still provide the same quality and professional services our service users have come to expect since 1957. The changes to their website and social media will be a window to view the exciting new services they will soon be providing along with information on the current projects.

The trustees and staff of Birmingham Irish association are committed to providing the citizens of Birmingham with a focused, open and trustworthy organisation that will continue to deliver services of the highest quality for many years to come.
