St Brigid's Day - 1 February - has become an ever-growing annual celebration of Irish Women.

Embassy of Ireland

The Embassy’s 5th annual St. Brigid’s Day event takes place on 1st February, featuring 19 trailblazing women from Britain and Ireland, who are making their mark in diverse fields including music, media, sport, food, science, and literature.

Led by MC Dearbhail McDonald, guests will enjoy performances from opera singer Ruby Philogene-Doran; Irish/Zimbabwean singer Shiv and poet and writer Esme Allman, as well as a keynote address from chef and owner of Myrtle restaurant, Anna Haugh.

This year’s event will also include panel discussions on Women and Climate; Women and Sport and, to mark the centenary of the publication of James Joyce’s Ulysses on 2nd February, 2022, a panel on Women and Joyce, which will all be made available online after the event.


Irish Film London

Irish Film London will host a month long festival of the best female-led short films. This programme features some of the best stories made by, and about, female filmmakers from Ireland in the last 12 months. Irish Cultural Centre Hammersmith

30 January: The Irish Cultural Centre presents the renowned folk group, the Casey Sisters. For details and tickets click HERE.


Irish Heritage

1 February 3.30pm As part of its Outreach & Community Programme Irish Heritage will hold a recital to celebrate St Brigid’s Day at the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith. Performers to be advised but will be from our past bursary award participants.

Admission: £5.00 (includes post-recital tea and biscuits)


Liverpool Irish Festival

Liverpool Irish Festival presents its headline event, Women’s Voices in Arts and Media, which is followed by some key work from the Festival’s archive relating to women’s matters, followed by a short listing of other events on offer for St Brigid’s Day.

London Irish Centre

29 January 7.30pm St. Brigid's Day Concert - a mixed bill, gala concert celebrating the creativity and resilience of Irish women hosted by Tara Flynn featuring art, spoken word and music at the London Irish Centre.

Luton Irish Forum

Luton Irish Forum is marking Lá Fhéile Bríde 2022 (St Brigid’s Day) by hosting its 6th annual Afternoon Tea event on 29 January from 12pm to 1.30pm and everyone is invited. Register to join this free event HERE.
