RTE Longwave Outage

Back to all news

After of a number of phone calls on the recent outage of RTE Radio 1 Longwave we can confirm that the transmitter is unavailable from 10 am on Monday 23rd March until 5.30pm on Wednesday 25th March. RTE says that ‘This is due to essential maintenance of the transmitter. RTÉ apologies for any inconvenience caused.’

Irish in Britain were part of a successful campaign late last year to maintain the longwave service but we would suggest that any queries or complaints be addressed directly to RTE in this instance as this seems to be a procedural issue.

We have had reports that there seems to be a less powerful signal or increased interference lately. There is no reports on RTE’s website of this yet but again if you have experienced this please contact RTE directly, you are also invited to tell us here.

To contact RTE:
Call +353 1 208 3111; email hearus@rte.ie or post to: 2nd Floor Admin Building, RTÉ, Donnybrook, Dublin 4, Ireland.
