Spotlight on our Members: Crosscare Migrant Project and Safe Home Ireland

Back to all news

Two of Irish in Britain’s Associate Member organisations support Irish people who have emigrated and want to return to Ireland: Crosscare Migrant Project, based in Dublin, and Safe Home Ireland, based in Mayo. We interviewed them about their work

Irish in Britain recently partnered with Crosscare Migrant ProjectSafe Home Ireland and the London Irish Centre to host a recent information session run for Irish groups who support and advise Irish people living in Britain.

We asked them about their work supporting Irish emigrants wanting to return from Britain and beyond.

First up is Sarah Owen, Irish Abroad Networking Officer at Crosscare Migrant Project who works with Irish organisations across the world dealing with Irish people leaving and returning to Ireland.

Next is Ellen McCarthy, who is the Information and Advocacy Officer at the Crosscare Migrant Project. She talks about the sorts of queries she gets on a day to day basis about everything from pensions to finding housing.

Finally is Karen McHugh, CEO of Safe Home Ireland, who describes their work offering advice for anyone considering a return to Ireland.

Are you thinking about returning to live in Ireland? The main message is ‘Be prepared!’.
