Trustee vacancies: Haringey Irish Cultural Community Centre

Back to all news

Haringey Irish centre has a proud long–standing record of providing much needed services to both the Irish Community and all sections of the Haringey community, we are passionate in our quest to support the most disadvantaged.

We are seeking new trustees, one of these being the treasurer position. Our current treasurer is retiring as are some trustees, to continue moving forward our ambitious programme of renewal and change we are seeking new trustees including a replacement treasurer.

We are a viable community business of 30 years standing, we have a viable separately constituted trading arm which gift aids its surplus, and this forms the majority of the charity’s income.   The charity also secures funds from independent Trusts and Foundations, the Big Lottery etc.

We are currently reviewing all our services, we are developing a detailed and comprehensive business plan.  We are at an exciting and vital time in our development, this is an opportunity to help shape vibrant and revised services for the most needy in our community.

Our charity offers: Day Care, a popular Lunch Club as well as an Advice and Support Service which advocates on behalf of and addresses the needs of the more vulnerable members of our community.  There are a number of well–established community groups based in the building, these help the centre provide a more holistic service for clients along with other networks and partners we work with.

Our trading arm generates income through:

·         Letting office space

·         Hire of our large hall and additional lounge bar

·         Bar and food sales

·         Car parking charges

We are close to the Tottenham Hotspurs football ground, this generates significant income for us, with the September 2018 re–opening of their ground this will facilitate significantly increased attendances, we are planning to maximise the potential of this through our bar and refreshments sales on match days.

We are using this opportunity to overhaul the whole of the organisation, we will be increasing our digital capacity, providing vended beer sales, upgrading our website so we can facilitate payments and bookings online.  This is the start of journey for us, we will continue to revise our services and operations so they meet the needs of our local community.

We are seeking your skills as trustees to help us oversee the strategic development of these activities in what will be a dynamic but supportive environment.

Given the current developments within the London Borough of Haringey and THFC, we would welcome applications from those with a legal, financial, business development or, funding background as well as someone with Welfare Rights knowledge/experience.  We also would welcome people who may not have those skills, but feel they can make a contribution to the development of the organisations aims and objectives of supporting the community.

We would also welcome those with special skills who may not want to become a trustee but attend the board as a non voting advisor.
