Irish In Britain

The Birmingham Irish Heritage Group is a non–profit charity established by the late Mike Walsh in 1994. The group seeks to further and preserve Ireland’s rich cultural and historical legacy among the Irish diaspora living in the West Midlands and throughout the United Kingdom.

On the first Wednesday of every month guest speakers are invited to share their experiences and knowledge on a diverse range of historical and artistic subjects. On occasion, the group might also screen relevant films or television productions.

In a relaxed atmosphere members and guests are encouraged to share memories which might otherwise be lost, thereby preserving our vital heritage for those to follow. Together, we gain unique insight into how the Irish of Birmingham enriched the social, cultural, commercial and political existence of England’s second city.
